Slimline Freestanding Smoking Shelter: Fits Tight Spaces

The Slimline is only about 1 metre deep, so it fits narrow spots where a standard shelter won't go: along a path, beside a car park or on an existing paved area, without blocking access. It's fully hot-dip galvanised for years of rust-free use. It comes in four sizes, from 1 to 8 people.

• Small: 2-4 people, 1525mm wide x 1016mm deep x 2150mm high
• Medium: 4-5 people, 2050mm wide x 1016mm deep x 2150mm high
• Large: 6-8 people, 3050mm wide x 1016mm deep x 2150mm high

Is the Slimline smoking shelter legal in the UK?

Yes. It's designed to be no more than 50% enclosed, which is the test in the Smoke-free (Premises and Enforcement) Regulations 2006. The back and sides are only half panelled and the front is fully open. Keep it that way: adding panels, or fitting it hard against a wall or fence, can make it "substantially enclosed", and smoking inside would then be illegal. As the site owner, you're responsible for making sure the finished installation complies.

Which size do I need?

Size it for your busiest break time, not the average. If six people are likely to be out at once, choose the Large. A cramped shelter means people end up smoking by the door anyway.

Where should I put it?

Keep it away from doorways, opening windows and air intakes. Council guidance commonly recommends leaving about 1.5m between the shelter and nearby walls, so smoke can clear. Some councils say smoking shelters need planning permission, so check with your local council first.
